Rev. Stephen Andrew Schmidt has pastored Triumph Church since March 28, 1971 with the exception of a four year period ending in August 2007 when his son, Trent Schmidt, pastored the church. Pastor Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, have three grown children and live in Greenwood, IN. He holds a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, and two bachelor degrees, the first in Apostolic Studies from the Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the second in General Studies from Indiana University, Indianapolis. A prolific writer, Rev. Schmidt has authored many articles and columns as well as the books, He's Never Too Busy and What Manner of People?. Pastor Schmidt's roots go deep in the community, and he continues to be active in many areas. He grew up in Triumph Church and attended local schools. For 23 years, he hosted the longest-running gospel radio broadcast in Indianapolis. From a long line of divinely-inspired preachers, he is the son of William & Faith Schmidt who previously pastored the church, the nephew of Nathanial A. Urshan (former pastor of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis and General Superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church International) and the grandson of Andrew David Urshan (an immigrant from Persia [now Iran] in 1901 and legendary preacher). Firm in his convictions, Pastor Schmidt is deeply interested in helping each member of his congregation become the most effective, productive and fulfilled Christian possible.
