From a very early age Trent Schmidt displayed acuity in Scripture.  It followed that he would eventually pastor the church.  He was elected Senior Pastor in 2003 but resigned in 2007 when he felt the call to serve our country in the U. S. Army.  After spending a year in Afghanistan, among other assignments, and while home on leave, he was killed in an automobile accident on Feb. 11, 2011.

Trent held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in General Studies, majoring in History, and a Bachelor of Theology from a local Seminary.
Trent worked in nearly every aspect of Triumph Church, from custodial to managerial and from teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir to assisting in youth ministry.  His loss is mourned by his parents, Stephen & Wendy Schmidt, the current pastors, along with his brother Todd Schmidt (U.S. Army Major) and sister, Tara Schmidt.  Trent will live on in the memories of those whose lives he touched, his family, and in the hearts of all the congregation of Triumph Church.
